Beautiful English Yew mantle clock with typical yew colouring and grain. Beautiful looking timepiece.Would make a nice gift for that someone special and would enhance the mantlepiece of any home or office setting.
The Yew is traditionally and regularly found in churchyards of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. Yews may grow to be exceptionally large and may live to be over 2000 years old. Some monks would plant yew in the middle of their cloister. Some very ancient yew trees are located at St Mary the Virgin church, Overton-on-Dee in Wales.
Yew is associated with England because of the Longbow, an early medieval weapon of war developed in Northern Europe.
This clock is finished in clear gloss resin, and is therefore almost maintenance free.
Clock is fitted with a quartz (almost silent) sweeping movement, all our movements are guaranteed for 12 months from date of purchase.
